If, on the other hand, you sense tension of any kind in your body, you diminish the potential of your body to carry out its everyday activities, including healing itself.

At the Qi Gong class, our teacher kept asking ‘How comfortable are you?’, explaining that if our bodies were not completely relaxed the energy flows would be restricted, and the benefits of our movements diminished.

Whatever you plan to do with the next few hours of your time, and that includes sleep, having a relaxed and comfortable body will help you do it more effectively.

Here are 3 quick ways to relax your whole body that I use regularly. I suggest you scan the headings and see which one jumps out for you! Best to avoid them when you’re driving though.

Yin breath

Take an ordinary breath in, and then imagine that your out-breath is coming from a place the size of a walnut located inside your head – between your ears, and behind your third eye.

Take another ordinary breath in, followed by breathing from this place inside your head for a few breaths.

Once you have the hang of your outbreath going from inside your head, repeat it – this time saying to yourself on your out-breat:

‘Be the breath’.

Keep repeating the Yin Breath until you feel fully relaxed.

When I first learned this Yin breath from Alain Herriott in 2007 it instantly relaxed my whole body, so I’ve been using it ever since. Now just one Yin breath instantly relaxes me completely!

Asking

For those of you who use Access Consciousness tools, here’s the question I use when I find myself in an uncomfortable position while running someone’s Bars.

Ask, in your head:

‘What energy, space and consciousness can I be that would allow my whole body to relax with ease?’

Simply live in that question (rather than look for an answer). For me, while I live with the question, I find my body makes tiny adjustments, which don’t disturb the position of my hands on the person’s head, allowing my body to relax completely even though I appear to be in an awkward position.

TAT Pose

If you practice TAT, you’ll know that the TAT Pose itself has a very relaxing effect on your whole energy system.

If you’re new to TAT, you’ll see a 2 minute video showing the TAT Pose here.

The main thing is to find a comfortable position to take the Pose, so your arms don’t get tired while you hold them up to the front and back of your head. Some people find it most relaxing to lie down, and have some cushions to support their arms.

Simply hold the TAT Pose for up to 5 minutes (and no more than a maximum of 10 minutes in any 1 day).

I’ve been using these methods for years, with a little practice you’ll soon find the one you chose gives you rapid results.

You may be surprised at some of the positions where you can relax. Alain Herriott had us do an exercise where we were to relax on the floor with a tennis ball under our backs – we did so!

The Delicious Nugget: Deeply relaxing your body until it is very comfortable will raise your potency for whatever lies ahead.

After an energy healing session you experienced a greater sense of well-being, and hopefully some amelioration of your symptoms.

Now you want to continue and extend those improvements over the following days and weeks.
Whether you participated in passive healing – where you simply got out of the way to allow your body’s healing intelligence to take over, or more active healing – where perhaps you tapped or let go of feelings, you gave yourself the opportunity to rebalance your body’s energy systems.

As your energy goes back into balance you experience more well-being, and your symptoms start to subside. Now your job is to make sure that you allow that rebalancing to continue.

Here are five things you can do more of to encourage your rebalancing . Pick the one that seems most important to you.

1. Drink more water

For the energy to flow in your body, you must be hydrated. So, the first thing to do is to drink plenty of water each day – I recommend 6 to 8 glasses.

Many people are permanently dehydrated, so it may take a little adjustment to drink water. You could gradually replace other drinks such as tea, coffee or juice with water.

In summer I drink cold water, while in winter I prefer to drink some of my water hot.

2. Breathe more deeply

Your breath is the source of oxygen that every cell needs to stay healthy; it’s also a source of healing energy. So it makes sense to make sure you get plenty of air into your body!

Aim to get more breath into your body by breathing deeply into your abdomen, and slowing your breath down. Identify a couple of times each day to do this – say before and after sleep, and also breathe more deeply whenever you become aware of your breathing.

3. Sleep more

Your body does most of its repair work while you’re sleeping, so aim to get as much sleep as you need. A good way to do this is to go to bed an hour or so earlier, and allow yourself to wake up naturally when you’ve had enough sleep.

4. Focus more on success

When you’re unwell it’s easy to dwell on the negative effects; but the more you think about them the more you’ll attract more of your symptoms.

When you focus more of your attention on the improvements you’re experiencing, or hoping to experience, you’ll start to attract improvement into your reality.

You can help yourself retrain your mind to watch for improvement by keeping a note of the improvements you do see.

5. Do more self-healing

If your healing session involved some active healing, like EFT, Sedona releasing, visualisation or another method, you may have been advised to continue this yourself. This will help your healing to continue.

Develop a habit for your self-healing by giving it regular, short slots in your day.

The Delicious Nugget: You can help your healing to continue and develop by: drinking more water, breathing more deeply, allowing yourself more sleep, focusing more on success, and where appropriate doing more self-healing.

If you’re feeling drained and you’re not healing, you may be missing out on your everyday healing energy.

There’s a simple way to top up your healing energy that you can use at any time, in any place.

Rather like ‘eating 5 portions of fruit and veg a day’ to enhance your health, you can use this simple practice each day to boost your healing energy.

When your energy is low it’s a struggle to get on with life; you feel too drained to exercise, to relax deeply, or to use those healing techniques you know will help you. And your body simply doesn’t have enough energy to power its healing processes.

At the physical level, your body needs oxygen to maintain and repair your cells. Cells with a poor oxygen supply will eventually compromise or lose some of their functions.

From a healing perspective, the air we breathe also contains life force, also known as prana or chi, which helps us stay in balance and heal. Again we need a steady supply of this life force energy.

So we need to breathe in enough air to keep our body working well, and enable it to heal.

When I was learning Quantum Touch healing – which involves a lot of deep breathing – and doing several sessions a day, I was surprised to find my energy level ended up much higher at the end of a day of several sessions than when I started the day.

Experimenting has shown me that a simple 5 x 5 breath, used five times a day has a similar energising and healing effect.

The 5 x 5 breath

It’s easy, here’s what to do:

Breathe in deeply to a count of 5, then breathe out deeply to a count of 5

Repeat these slow in and out breaths five times

Enhance your 5 x 5 breath

As you use your 5 x 5 breath, you can gradually deepen it in two ways.

Loosen any tight clothing round your waist, and allow your abdomen expand as you breathe in. Contract your abdominal muscles to help push the air out of your lungs.

Very gradually, slow down your count of 5, so that each in breath and each out breath takes slightly longer.

Five times a day

Your body needs a steady supply of energy, so it’s best to get into a habit of using your 5 x 5 breath several times a day. Here are the times I suggest:

When you get up

Before breakfast

Before lunch

Before dinner

Before going to bed

A habit takes up to 21 days to become automatic, so you may need to keep reminding yourself for two to three weeks. As you feel your energy rise, it will be easy for your 5 x 5 breath to become as much of a daily habit as brushing your teeth!

The Delicious Nugget: Using the 5 x 5 breath five times will immediately raise your energy level, and give you more healing energy.
